Anne Hamilton

Anne Hamilton

Anne Hamilton is a British author, freelance editor, writing mentor and tutor of fiction and creative non-fiction. Her manuscript, The Almost Truth, won the Irish Novel Fair 2021, and her debut novel came out in 2024.

Anne Hamilton was born in the UK. She attended Trinity College, Dublin, where she studied Community Health and Epidemiology. In addition to her undergraduate education, Hamilton earned a PhD from the University of Glasgow.

Her career spans various roles, including her current position as a Managing Editor and Mentor at WriteRight, where she guides aspiring writers.

Anne co-founded Bhola’s Children, a charity in the UK. This organization supports a school and home for disabled children in Bangladesh. Anne has been a dedicated trustee for over two decades, splitting her time between the UK and Bangladesh. Before the success with The Almost Truth, Anne published a travel memoir, A Blonde Bengali Wife (2010).

Her literary career took a significant turn with her involvement in the Irish Novel Fair, where her then-unpublished manuscript for The Almost Truth won. An adaptation of this short story appeared in The People's City, an Edinburgh charity anthology.

The Almost Truth secured Anne a two-book deal with Legend Press. The novel has been praised for its intricate exploration of identity, family, and secrets. Her path to publication was not straightforward, involving initial rejections and periods of doubt. But her perseverance and passion for storytelling culminated in this acclaimed publication, earning her a place in literary discussions and the hearts of readers alike.

Anne Hamilton lives in Edinburgh.
