Vivien Brown is a British author renowned for her women’s fiction, focusing on domestic dramas and intricate family relationships. Best known for her debut, Lily Alone (2017), she continues to explore emotional themes in her latest novel, A Part of Me (2024).
Vivien Brown was born and raised in Middlesex, UK. Brown initially pursued a career in banking and accountancy. However, her passion for literature led her to a fulfilling career working with children in libraries and writing short stories for magazines. When she won the Mail on Sunday Best Opening to a Novel competition, she reaffirmed her decision to concentrate on writing full-time.
After publishing her debut domestic drama, Lily Alone, in 2017, she has written four other novels: Five Unforgivable Things (2018), No Sister Of Mine (2010), and Be Careful WHAT YOU WISH FOR (2020).
Her most recent book, A Part of Me, explores the poignant and complex emotions surrounding adoption and organ donation. The novel follows Geraldine, a widow in her sixties, who faces a moral dilemma when the daughter she gave up for adoption, Beth, suffers from kidney disease and needs a transplant.
The narrative delves into themes of guilt, family, and the ethical quandaries posed by modern medicine, making it a compelling read for those interested in the emotional dynamics of reunions and the impact of life-altering decisions.
Vivien is actively involved in the literary community as a Fellow and Honorary Secretary of the Society of Women Writers and Journalists (SWWJ), a member of the Romantic Novelists Association, and a regular tutor at the Swanwick Writers Summer School. Her roles include overseeing writing competitions and managing social media for SWWJ.
