Marie Benedict is an American former lawyer turned author. She writes historical novels, revealing the overlooked impacts of women on history. Heather Terrell is a pseudonym used by Benedict as well. Her books have been translated into twenty-nine languages.

Marie Benedict worked as a litigator for over a decade. Marie aims to spotlight significant historical women, emphasizing their contributions and relevance to contemporary issues.

Marie began her thematic series with The Other Einstein (2016). This novel explores the life of Albert Einstein's first wife, a physicist who may have influenced his theories. Her next book, Carnegie's Maid (2018), was a bestseller on USA Today. It examines the life of a woman who may have influenced Andrew Carnegie.

In 2019, Benedict published The Only Woman in the Room, a New York Times bestseller about Hedy Lamarr. Lady Clementine (2020), about Clementine Churchill, followed, becoming an international bestseller. The Mystery of Mrs Christie (2020) explores Agatha Christie's disappearance, reaching instant bestseller status.

The historical fiction Agent 355 (2020) introduces readers to Elizabeth Morris, an 18-year-old involved in the Revolutionary War. Despite her Tory parents' loyalist tendencies, Elizabeth joins General George Washington's Culper Ring, serving as a spy.

In 2021, Marie co-authored The Personal Librarian with Victoria Christopher Murray, detailing the life of J.P. Morgan's librarian, which also became an instant New York Times bestseller.

Her latest works include Her Hidden Genius (2022), about Rosalind Franklin, and The Mitford Affair (2023), focusing on the Mitford sisters. Another Murray collaboration, The First Ladies (2023), also became a New York Times bestseller.

Marie Benedict also writes under the pseudonym Heather Terrell, authoring novels like The Chrysalis, The Map Thief, and Brigid of Kildare.
