I think part of the reason we hold on to something so tight is because we fear something so great won’t happen twice.

Here’s another reason why we hold on to things or people longer than we should. We convince ourselves that good things won’t happen twice; we will not be able to find someone who is that great again or who makes us feel this way again. Or we won’t be able to find a job like that again, or something we are that passionate about again. The truth is, you will always find something or someone that makes you feel this way again, new passions will emerge and good things will happen twice and as many times as they want, and will probably be a better and more convenient fit for you.
