«. . . author Sarah Andersen uses hilarious (and adorable) comics to illustrate the very specific growing pains that occur on your way to becoming a mature, put-together grownup. Andersen’s spot-on illustrations also show how to navigate this newfound adulthood once you arrive, since maturity is equally as hard to maintain as it is to find … «
--The Huffington Post
Sarah valiantly struggles with waking up in the morning, being productive, and dealing with social situations. Sarah's Scribbles is the comic strip that follows her life, finding humor in living as an adulting introvert that is at times weird, awkward, and embarrassing.

This book has many funny comics that I really enjoyed. The author also wrote an illustrated essay about how the internet gives artists and writers the opportunity to share their creations, but it can be overwhelming or frightening because the internet is also a place for anonymous bullying, harassment, and criticism. Sarah encourages creative people to keep following their dreams despite their own insecurities and the opinion of random critics online.

What I liked: The comics about cats were my favorite. Many others were very relatable as well.

What I did not like: The illustrated essay was nice, but it was not what I was expecting because I thought the whole book was about her comics. Also, since I am not an artist and I hardly post anything online, the information was not for me.

Creativity is not only worth it but is necessary in these times. Artists and writers have the unique ability of looking at the world and reinterpreting it in their own way, and this perspective is one I would sorely miss if a young creative chose not to show their work. And for the sake of my own sanity, I much prefer spending my time looking at the works of new, growing artists than the fire party that the Internet has become. Sort of like . . . a little blossom of hope in an apocalyptic landscape

Having some degree of Internet presence has now become commonplace for most people. And it turns out, when you give people endless access to a shroud of anonymity and a soapbox, the results might just be disastrous. Whereas users congregated in small pockets before, social media has enabled the rise of mass movements that use trolling as a deflection tool for “doing the most damage I can do and then saying it was just a joke.” This culture no longer hides in anonymous corners but exists in the mainstream and is unavoidable

Making work is actually fun. It’s healthy and rewarding, and for many creative people, it’s central to who they are as a person
