This is an excellent book of modern Cuban art, encompassing the analysis from the social and artistic Cuban avant-garde of the 20s and 30s up to the 1990s, with a special emphasis on race and gender—factors present in Cuban painting and graphic production. This volume is mainly based on fragmentary studies and data only to be found in articles and catalogues.
